Wales...the second

You know - we really love the Brits...all of them! They're kind, lovely, funny, friendly and we can't get enough of them. Also you know by now that we love the country as well.
But...there is a but!!! What about drying your hair IN the bathroom....in front of a mirror with all the stuff women need to get ready for work...for a party...for sightseeing...for shopping???
What is the problem?
To dry your hair in UK you'll have to sort something out! Because there aro NO sockets for hairblower in the bathroom, and you'll need a mirror NEAR a socket, the Rambling Sisters built this wonderful construction! Well...it's kind of fun actually!

***

But there is more of Wales. As it happend you can come across a flock of horses running down a hill!

***

We found a lovely Tearoom in Ogmore, near Ogmore Castle and had a delecious Applecrumble...heavenly!

***

The Rambling Sisters have been here!

One day we left Glamorgan and we drove to the River Why where you can find the ruin of a remote Abbey

Wales...

What can we say about Wales? The welsh name is Cymru and Wales is a part of the United Kingdom. It has a population of more than 3 million and two official languages. The capital of Wales is Cardiff and the people there a very friendly indeed! Of course...there is a lot more to say about beautiful Wales!
But maybe you just take your time, watch the pics and follow the Rambling Sisters to the south of Wales where they spent a wonderful week!

***

Glamorgan...

Glamorgan (Morgannwg)  is in the South of Wales and reaches from the Breacon Beacons in the North to the Bristol Channel. Along the coast are so many wonderful places...you could spend a lifetime!

***

Out & about

----

Well, it's not on British soil, but lovely as well... :-) Today we visited the outdoor museum in Detmold because finally the weather was stable and sunny enough for a few hours to take a stroll through the past....
We especially like the so called Paderborner Dorf with its traditional bakery and yummie pastries. During the at least today inevitable shower of rain we had a lovely lunch at the restaurant The White Horse...
There is a lot of history to see on the extensive and beautiful grounds. Here are some impressions!

Great days out in Kent & Suffolk - Part Two

Technically this grand estate isn't in Kent or Suffolk... But I simply had to show you this superb Georgian building. We had a fab day out at Wimpole Estate, Cambridgeshire.

- - -

I love Walled Gardens... this one in Wimpole is just great. Even the outer orchard has its own walls...

- - -

This is Lavenham Guildhall... a fine example of the earlier wealth in Suffolk. You can still find lots of Tudor houses with their quirky beams in and around Lavenham...

- - -

Thanks to our friend C. who recommended a day trip to Framlingham Castle and Orford Castle we had a great lunch at the local Bakery & Cafe in Orford (the loveliest British cheeses ever - yummie) and could enjoy this view from Framlingham Castle's wall walk.

- - -

Mary Tudor lived and waited here for her succession to the throne...

- - -

... and this is the amazing view from Orford keep... See the North Sea??

- - -

... und die Aussicht von Orford Castle Richtung Nordsee...

I could have shot another thousand or so pictures of the Suffolk landscape.... Especially just before sunset... lovely, isn't it?

- - -

Well, those pictures are just a tiny selection of impressions of our week in Suffolk. I loved the tiny cottages, the colourful houses and Georgian Mansions. I'm pretty sure we'll be back!! ;-)

If we ever win the lottery, something like this house would be very high on our wish-list...

- - -
